Nozie Mswi, who lives nearby, opened the daycare in January 2013 for children, between the ages of 1 and 5, who live in the area. Rising Sun Daycare is a shining light, a safe haven for the little souls who attend week days. Parents, mostly unemployed, pay a small monthly fee for which each child receives breakfast and lunch, they are taught a pre-school curriculum, and they are given love and attention. The daycare, attended by between 35 and 40 children, receives no financial assistance from either the public or private sector. Rising Sun Daycare keeps these children safe and warm, well fed and clothed while parents look for work or are at work. Rising Sun Daycare aims to be sustainable, to be a safe haven to the children ofthe community, and to provide each child with more than enough to fulfil their physical, intellectual and spiritual needs. The daycare would like to enhance its offerings, securing the facilities and adding things like a swing set and shelves etc. Rising Sun would like to pay its helpers a fair stipend, knowing that they deserve a decent wage, and that the money gets ploughed back into the community. Finally, Rising Sun aims to be the hands and feet of Jesus, who told the children to come to him. If the daycare has a motto, it is in this verse: Matthew 19: 14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.
